Open Universities Australia programs

Curtin University offers a variety of courses and units through Open Universities Australia.

If your school or department wishes to propose a new course or unit or amend existing courses or units there are strict guidelines to follow to ensure success.

Curtin OUA and Courses Management have created several flowcharts to show the procedures in each scenario. The flowcharts can be accessed by clicking the appropriate heading below.

# The submission deadlines for ad hoc change requests that do require DIISRTE reporting are:

Requests must be submitted at least 10 weeks prior to the close of enrolment date of the study period to allow time for DIISRTE reporting to be completed. Flexible Learning Support imposes a deadline of an extra one week to allow the PIMS Officers to collate and process the change requests.

If received before the applicable deadline the changes will be made and published by OUA within 15-20 business days.

Categories:

  • Cancellation of unit availability of scheduled offerings
  • Swapping of unit availability
  • Addition or removal of costly materials or on-campus requirements/practicum
  • Addition or removal of invigilated exams
  • Addition or removal of corequisite, mandatory and equivalent units
  • Any Minor Change deemed to have potential for student disadvantage

Requests to cancel or swap unit availability of scheduled offerings (including rest/retire requests) are required to be tabled at an internal OUA meeting for review. These meetings are held fortnightly and once approved, will still be made within the 15-20 business day timeframe. Changes received after these deadlines will be subject to an escalation process for approval and if received late may not be able to be completed within usual timeframes.

For any change types not listed above please contact the Curtin OUA Course Administration Officer for further information.

Please note: Requests for changes that require DIISRTE notification must include arrangements indicating how they ensure no student is disadvantaged as DIISRTE may not allow changes that disadvantage students.
