Web Conferencing Participant Orientation

Blackboard Collaborate is a live web conferencing and virtual classroom platform that allows staff and students to communicate using a real-time learning space. The main features include two-way audio, multipoint video, interactive whiteboard, application sharing, web tour, polling and session recording. Activities can include introductory exercises, brainstorming, problem sharing and solving, presentation of research and projects, role plays, debates, mentoring and support.

Bb Collaborate Interface Introducing Blackboard Collaborate

Curtin staff can use Bb Collaborate for:

  • learning and teaching purposes from a Blackboard unit
  • meetings and collaborating with peers or research partners via a 'virtual office'.

Bb Collaborate has been integrated within Blackboard to facilitate easy scheduling and streamlined access to Collaborate sessions.

Getting started

If you have never participated in a live Bb Collaborate session before, please access the First Time Users check to configure your computer.

You should also ensure you have an audio headset and a reliable internet connection.

Blackboard Collaborate Live Help

Visit the Blackboard Collaborate Technical Support site where you can speak to someone over the phone (Call 1800 26 7338 - this is a 24 hour help phone line).

Alternatively, for less urgent calls you can Submit a Ticket which sends an e-mail to the help desk.

Drop in session

For Blackboard, OLAS, or Bb Collaborate support, the LMS team provide an online drop in session in Bb Collaborate every Thursday from 11am -12 noon. See your Blackboard homepage for the link.
