Teaching and Learning in Changing Times
The University of Western Australia is pleased to host the 1998 Teaching and Learning Forum, a co-operative effort by Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, the University of Notre Dame Australia and the University of Western Australia. This is the seventh Forum since Curtin University first provided an opportunity for teaching staff to share teaching and learning methods, problems, projects and research with their colleagues.
The theme of the 1998 Forum is Teaching and Learning in Changing Times, which is addressed through papers associated with demonstration sessions, dilemma sessions, research vignettes and posters. The changes affecting teachers and students are many, such as those to higher education policy, tudent demographics, the economy and employment market, internationalisation, technology and theories and practice of teaching and learning. The papers in this volume explore different facets of change in relation to a range of teaching and learning issues across various disciplines and institutions.

Web publishing for TL Forum 98
Some suggestions and examples for "reprinting" journal and conference papers on a web server are given under:
For creating the TL Forum 98 html and gif files, I used the following software, on a Macintosh PowerBook 1400cs (for html authoring) and Macintosh PowerPC 7200 (for uploading and reviewing finished files), plus some use of a Windows 95 PC (for spot checks on readability):
- Browsers: Netscape 3.0 for Macintosh (main), Netscape 4 for Windows and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 (for spot checks).
- Editor: Word 5.1 for Macintosh (after extraction of graphics, if any, I saved in text only, and inserted all html tags manually - I did not use any html authoring tools for TL Forum 98 files).
- GIF Convertor for creating gif files (usually by pasting a Word 5.1 picture), and Transparency for conversion to a transparent gif).
- Fetch for Macintosh, for uploading files to the host cleo.
